Carrickmacross is an appliquéd lace technique made by outlining a design with a couched cord or heavy thread through a layer of organdy and netting. The cord or heavy thread that is couched is 100% cotton and usually a size 40 or 60 crochet thread. The couching thread is a 50-weight or lighter-weight cotton sewing thread. Once the design is stitched, the excess organdy layer is cut away, leaving a lovely textured design. Master this timeless technique during this online class taught by Ann Peebles.
